What’s New in Kaamfu: Linux Expansion and Core Enhancements

Kaamfu’s newest release brings a major step forward in platform support and performance. Our desktop application, Workstation Connect, now supports Linux. Additionally, the web interface is now smoother than before. We’ve also made performance improvements, Live Sync enhancements, and interface enhancements. 

Read on to know more about each of these updates, but first let’s do a quick briefing on our Workstation Connect app.

What does the Workstation Connect app do?

Kaamfu builds transparency in remote teams by tracking work hours via Workstation Connect. Organization owners can monitor employees by mandating them to sign in via the app. Workstation Connect then captures employees’ desktops without interrupting workflows.

The app works in sync with the web interface to update the screenshots log every 3 minutes. This ensures continuous monitoring so managers can focus on actual work. Kaamfu thus creates a shared view for both employees and employers by reducing micromanagement.

From Windows-Only to Full Linux Support

With this update, Linux users on Fedora and RedHat can now shift in and out through the app. The accurate syncing of the app and web interface creates logs of work hours and screenshots. Bringing this functionality to Linux wasn’t a simple port. We had to adjust to Wayland’s display to maintain layout uniformity. This way, screenshots won’t misfire or show blank screens.

We enhanced image timestamping to work the same across all operating systems. We also fixed Linux-specific issues that slowed down buttons and shift actions. The result is a Linux version that works like it belongs — because now, it does.

Making the desktop app smarter and more efficient

In our latest release, we also made significant improvements to the app interface. The pause modal is now better at informing you when you’re due back. We also resolved long-standing UI issues like non-responsive hamburger menus.

We recognized there was a lag in performing actions due to the absence of a visual key. To solve this, we added a visual spinner so users don’t need to speculate whether an action they did worked or not. These modest fixes ensure a consistent experience that keeps users in the zone.

The interface gets faster with smarter fixes

On the web interface, we reduced dependability to tackle bugs and inconsistencies. Live Sync is now a more reliable engine for task statuses, avatars, and dashboard updates. This release has improved actions like task assignments and member invitations.

Our team worked hard on retaining the stability and functionality of the web interface. We also fixed bugs with file uploads and workday start/stop buttons. These updates make everything function more smoothly—and feel speedier.
